Colorado’s state-run paid leave portal goes live over a month before program begins The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s Family and Medical Leave Insurance Division’s application portal for its new paid family and medical leave program is up and running, allowing employees to begin applying for benefits immediately.Additionally, the department in a news release announced three virtual town hall dates for Coloradans to learn more about the voter-approved program, which takes effect Jan. 1. The first event is on Dec. 6, the second on Jan. 10 and the third on Feb. 1. The town hall will be hosted in English from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., and then in Spanish from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on each date. Interstate 70 westbound near Glenwood Springs reopens after crash A portion of westbound Interstate 70 near Glenwood Springs has been reopened after a crash temporarily closed it.The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on X in a message posted at 1:11 p.m. Monday that a section of the westbound lanes of the highway from Hanging Lake, exit 125, to Shoshone, exit 123, was closed. Teens apprehended after shoplifting merchandise from Macy's Two teenagers were apprehended after they attempted to steal merchandise from a Macy’s department store in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday.At around 7:51 p.m. on Nov. 25, authorities with the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to calls of a theft in progress at the Macy’s located on the 12500 block of South Main Street, according to a news release.The teens, a 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old female, attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. San Jose firefighter injured in motorhome fire near The Alameda SAN JOSE — A firefighter was injured while responding to a fire in a motor home near The Alameda on Sunday night, according to the San Jose Fire Department.Fire officials received reports of the blaze on Cleaves Avenue around 7:21 p.m. Sunday; San Jose officials said a “motor home” had burned. The first group of firefighters found the vehicle burning as it sat between between Miami Liquor and Food and a residential structure.The fire, which was upgraded to a second alarm at 7:37 p.m., was extinguished by 7:51.One firefighter sustained unspecified non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, according to SJFD. No other injuries were reported, though two people and a dog were displaced from the motor home.The adjacent residence was damaged on the exterior, but did not need to be vacated, fire officials said.The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of Monday afternoon, according to SJFD.
