The railroad crossing gates on Alameda Avenue near South Sable Road were stuck in the down position for about an hour before being fixed, an RTD spokesperson said.The railroad crossing gates at Alameda and Sable are stuck in the down position. @AuroraPD are working their way to the intersection to help clear out traffic. @RideRTD has been advised and advising they have a 10 min. ETA. Sheriff's Department employee accused of illegally recording colleagues

A civilian employee of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has been charged with illegally recording her colleagues.Operations Assistant III Meghan Capone, 43, is accused of using "a small electronic voice-activated audio recording device plugged into her work computer" between March and June 2021, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said in a Thursday news release. "An external storage device also connected to Capone’s work computer allegedly contained audio files of private conversations between her superiors and their legal team," the release added. It wasn’t the big jackpot, but it was apparently big enough for James Keown to decide he had enough of driving buses for a living.Keown, a school bus driver in Louisville, Kentucky, won $100,000 on the Aug. 19 Powerball drawing by matching four white ball numbers and the Powerball, and then doubling his prize with the Power Play option, lottery officials said.After confirming his winnings, Keown first picked up the phone to call his wife, Monta.“I panicked thinking something was wrong,” Monta told Kentucky Lottery officials.  “He told me, ‘I just paid off my bills.’ I said, ‘You did what?’”  ‘I just paid off my bills. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo is set to sentence the 47-year-old actor after rejecting a defense motion for a new trial. One Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Cajalco RoadCORONA, CA (September 7, 2023) – Early Thursday afternoon, one victim was killed in a 2-car accident on Interstate 15.The incident occurred around 12:41 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway near Cajalco Road.Per reports, the driver of a white pickup-truck and a sedan collided near the Cajaco off-ramp. Motorcyclist Hospitalized after Speeding Collision near 7th StreetPHOENIX, AZ (September 7, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, one rider sustained injuries in a pursuit crash on Interstate 10.Officers responded around 12:50 a.m., near 7th Street on August 16th. Per reports, an officer attempted to perform a traffic stop on two speeding motorcyclists when one of the riders sped off.The pursuit then came to a stop near 7th Street when the rider was struck by a white pickup truck.Paramedics arrived and transported one of the riders to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center for further treatment. BART launches array of transit changes as “fiscal cliff” looms

OAKLAND — BART’s quest to increase ridership with a plan to ditch half-hour waits between trains on nights and weekends is slated to launch next week.The Bay Area transit agency will begin the new effort on Sept. 11.“No BART rider will wait more than 20 minutes for a scheduled train no matter what hour of the day or day of the week,” BART said.One result of the upcoming change is that evening service will increase by 50% seven nights a week, the transit system estimated.BART is also undertaking two other significant changes in connection with its schedule alterations.Here are the details of these BART shifts:— BART will shorten the size of the transit agency’s least-crowded trains.— The transit system will use only its “fleet of the future” trains for its base schedule.The legacy cars will be used only for event trains or special contingencies.“Our new cars are cleaner, require less maintenance, have better quality surveill...
