Tucker Carlson will no longer be on Fox News. California Republicans blast 'crazy' fixed-rate power bill proposal

California Republicans are asking state regulators to reject a proposal by California's three largest power companies to create a fixed rate for services based on household income."The ‘fixed-charge’ proposal is nothing but a shameful attempt to exploit and rip off residential customers,’” Senate Republicans said in a letter sent to California’s Public Utilities Commission last week. “Another name for this proposal could be the 'Hard Work Utility Tax,' as it is an unjust and regressive plan that fails to recognize the differences in energy usage among households and unfairly burdens lower-income families.”The passage of Assembly Bill 205 required utilities to simplify power bills while lower costs for lower-income residents. A man was taken into custody Monday after an hourslong armed standoff with deputies in Santa Clarita’s Canyon Country neighborhood.The standoff began around 6:20 a.m. in the 19300 block of Newhouse Street where the suspect “barricaded” himself inside his vehicle with a weapon, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.Officials have not said what led to the standoff.Sky5 video showed several armored police vehicles surrounding two white SUVs in a cul-de-sac. Three months after the Lunar New Year shooting claimed 11 lives in Monterey Park, local and state officials on Monday announced new legislation that they hope will prevent similar shootings in the future. The first bill would remove all guns from the possession of someone convicted of a crime using a firearm. 41-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near 53rd StreetLONG BEACH, CA (April 24, 2023) – Friday night, Edward Corral was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Atlantic Avenue.Police responded to the scene around 9:15 p.m., near 53rd Street on April 14th.Upon arrival, officers learned that Corral attempted to cross Atlantic Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk. There, the driver of a passing vehicle struck him and immediately fled the scene.The impact pushed 41-year-old Corral into a concrete median where he suffered serious injuries, including head-trauma, swelling of the brain, broken legs, broken ribs and broken hips.Medics admitted him into an ICU where he was later pronounced brain dead. 62-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near East Gold Links RoadTUCSON, AZ (April 24, 2023) – Monday afternoon, Andrew Martinez was killed in a 2-car accident on Pantano Parkway.The incident occurred just after 2:00 p.m., near East Gold Links Road on April 17th.Officers say a white 2016 Isuzu NRR flat bed truck was stopped at a red light in the left turn lane. There, the driver of a blue 1999 GMC Sonoma rear-ended it.Medics arrived and transported the Sonoma driver, 62-year-old Martinez, to a nearby hospital where he later died. In addition, paramedics took the Isuzi driver to a hospital with minor injuries.Officers stated that failure to reduce and control speed was a major contributing factor of the incident.
